I am coming as FJ and have got a Smock webbing trousers and a FJ Helmet (Had to paint it Normandy camo thought as it looks so cool You will have just to think that it was on trial in Italy before being rolled out to the troops in France
) Now looking at pictures and chat FJ were wearing LW Tropical shirts. As I have to kit out my 2 lads (Money money money no not the Abba song
) I was going to get a British Army No 2 dress shirt. I know they are lighter in colour than the tan LW ones but for £6 they may fit the bill.
What do you think
As always answers on a post card
I'm sure they could easily pass as bleached by the sun.

The shirt will be under your smock anyway, so I'd say it's fine.
Ok cheers
Excellent kit list - well done on that, Stuart.
just quick question where do you put the holster on the web set up when you have 2 mag pouches and a bread bag on the belt ?
Good question! I would tend to only wear one MP40 pouch. You'll find the pockets in the smock can easily accommodate a number of mags.
also i know the straps are the heer type and both belt and straps are in black i did read some where that the FJ towards the later years were wearing heer kit or what ever was issued to them
Correct - later war, LW troops were issued with various kit that was previously regarded as Heer / W-SS only.

I did read that british shirts were much loved by DAK troops in north africa. no reason to think that with the Italian front being such a poor mans! front, that they would not make use of any items they had.

i will now be running down the rock next month to meet boshman and play a game with him and his bro in my new kit
What date are you going ?

Animal, this is a handy link for what goes where on German belt order

cheers mate great link
. quick one though when you have just one mp40 ammo pouch on one side and a holster on the other . where do the y straps attach . i know normaly with no holster they attach on the mag pouch o ring . do both hooks now go under holster and pouch and onto the belt
. the holster has no o ring and the mag pouch sits higher up
You can use a leather belt loop with a D ring on it
http://www.epicmilitaria.com/product.ph ... -belt-loop.
I only wear one MP40 pouch, to which one Y strap attaches as normal. I use a D loop on the other side and adjust the other Y strap to hook into that.

(Handy thing to have - you can also use it downward to clip a water bottle into which is more convenient than round the back as normal, for example)
Edit: pipped to the post!
as above.
I'll bring one for you if you're max'd out with buying WW2 clobber for the anklebiters
Just remember to remind me nearer the time
Well, in combat, you see all sorts of variations, due to practicality. I usually wear my bottle clipped onto the breadbag, but not with the strap through the leather tab, so it's easier. Anyway, you'll always have a comrade around to help you. That's the way it is with WWII kit.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Well.... yeah, but I can live with that.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
It ALL flaps about
Not nearly as much as '37 patt though.
Yes, I usually just clip the water bottle on, and yes it does flap around, but it really isn't a problem.
where do you put the holster
left hip. There is just room on the belt for 2 x MP40 pouches, holster, entrenching tool, breadbag and then a zelt strapped on over the top. With all that junk, you'll need your Y straps though
As already mentioned, a few spare D rings can come in very handy as well.
Cheers

Tan & Water jump smocks are fine for this. Wear whatever trousers you have (as the real FJ did)
If you are buying a new smock then I would recommend splinter-b or plain green type rather than T&W as they were much more common and accurate for a larger time frame of the war. But as B&H says, T&W smock is fine for this even. Trousers can be standard wool heer or FJ type or luft tropical or Italian camo, or reed green HBT or Brit KD even.
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942
By late war, T&W accounted for about 10% of smocks. So I would definitely go for splinter.

Depends where you get it from, I guess. If it doesn't fit, I suggest sending it back.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Hmm... strange. If you can't get it to fit, give them a call - they've usually got very good customer service.
